Turn a Twitch VOD into YouTube Shorts
Paste your VOD link and AI Clipping scans the whole stream for its best moments, ranks them, and opens each one in a vertical editor where you add captions and export a Short.
Step by step
- 1
Paste your VOD link
Give AI Clipping a VOD link from Twitch, YouTube or Kick. If you sign in with Twitch, your recent VODs are listed for you.
- 2
Let AI find the highlights
The AI analyzes audio and the transcript, plus chat activity on Twitch VODs, to spot hype moments, and returns a ranked list of clips.
- 3
Open a clip in the editor
Pick a moment, choose a 9:16 layout with facecam and gameplay, adjust the trim and add automatic captions.
- 4
Export or publish as a Short
Export in HD, or with Pro publish straight to YouTube Shorts and schedule the rest on a calendar.
Why your VODs are full of unused Shorts
A three or four hour stream usually has a handful of moments that would make great Shorts: a clutch play, a big reaction, a funny exchange with chat. The problem is finding them. Scrubbing a long Twitch VOD by hand can take almost as long as the stream itself.
There's also a clock running. Twitch only keeps past broadcasts for a limited time, 7 days by default and longer for Affiliates and Partners. If you don't pull the highlights out soon after streaming, the VOD may be gone before you get to it.
The manual way from VOD to Short
Done by hand, you rewatch the VOD at high speed, note timestamps where chat went wild or you got loud, then download those sections. Each one goes into an editor where you set up a vertical 9:16 canvas, crop facecam and gameplay, trim it down and add captions.
YouTube Shorts can be up to three minutes long and should be vertical, so you also need to keep each clip tight and reformatted. Multiply that by five or ten moments per stream, and editing Shorts becomes a second job.
How AI Clipping finds the moments for you
AI Clipping is built for exactly this. You give it a VOD link from Twitch, YouTube or Kick, and it looks at several signals at once: audio spikes, what was said in the transcript, and on Twitch VODs, how active chat got. It combines those to find the moments most likely to work as clips and returns them ranked.
Each result opens in the StreamClip editor, already trimmed around the moment. From there you pick a layout, auto-detect your facecam, generate captions in English or Spanish, add effects if you want, and export in HD. No downloading, no scrubbing, no separate caption tool.
Plans and limits
AI Clipping is part of Pro, which costs USD $15 a month or $150 a year. Pro includes 50 hours of VOD analysis per month, plus unlimited HD exports with no watermark and publishing or scheduling to YouTube Shorts and TikTok.
If you'd rather pick moments yourself, the Free plan still gives you the full editor, captions and effects. Paste a clip link or upload a file, edit it into a vertical Short, and export with a small watermark. No credit card is needed to start.
